Helping children to grow up isn't always easy. But if you keep in mind the fact that the primary goal of a child is to grow up - it helps. Their goal isn't just to play or make believe or keep you up at night - it is to becoming a contributing member of our society. You, as a parent, need to help him/her to accomplish that goal. Part of that is letting the child help- letting him contribute to your family. What he/she considers 'help' may not be exactly what YOU had in mind...but the point is to LET them help - don't make them feel their contribution is unworthy. You'll be glad you did!
